Ell and Logan wanted their big day to feel more like a party than a traditional wedding. They went all out to create something truly unique. While they couldn’t quite put their vision into words, once they shared their mood board with their florist, an incredible “Alice in Wonderland nightclub” theme came to life. Their Taft Museum of Art wedding was filled with bold colors, stunning florals, and unforgettable decor, making the event truly magical.
The couple began their day in a non-traditional way, getting ready with their loved ones and sharing in the excitement and anticipation. They then exchanged vows in a garden ceremony beneath a canopy of towering trees. The celebration continued with a tented reception, where lavish tablescapes were adorned with fruit, flowers, ribbons, and towering candelabras, creating an unforgettable setting for their special day.
Luckily, Junebug vendor Madeline J Studios beautifully documented this couple’s extravagant wedding. Their celebration is sure to inspire other couples to break away from tradition and create a one-of-a-kind event.

An Untraditional Taft Museum Wedding Inspired by Wonderland and Some of Today’s Hottest Trends
I said from the beginning of the wedding process that I wanted our wedding to feel like a party, not a wedding. Generally, I see many of the same aesthetics of white and green with a complementary color, but I wanted to go for it. There are also some cool trends going on right now that I wanted to do my take on. For example, the coquette bows are trendy, so I made them bright and bold. I couldn’t put words to describe the “theme” in my head, but I ended up showing some conceptual photos to our florist. Our florist said it was giving “Alice in Wonderland nightclub,” and I was like, yes! Our tablescapes were so unique and beautiful. They looked like the most elaborate eye feast of a still life, and I loved every detail.
How the Taft Museum Set the Stage for Their Intimate and Epic Celebration
For our ceremony and getting ready, I wanted it to feel like an intimate backyard wedding. The Taft Museum was the perfect venue to achieve this feeling for our ceremony. The most memorable part of the day was getting ready with my friends and then doing our first look, but also my brother getting on stage with the band was so epic. He played Blink-182 to get the crowd pumped. We chose our venue because of the rich history of the Taft Museum. It also allowed access to downtown should our guests want to learn more about Cincinnati at their leisure. The ceremony area also gave the backyard feel I wanted, while the tent achieved the party atmosphere.
Trust Your Vision: How You Make People Feel Is What Lasts
Everything will end up looking dated in ten years, so just go for it. Do whatever your heart desires, whether it’s traditional or non-traditional. People will remember how they felt, and your confidence in those decisions will influence their feelings.
A Celebration That Balanced Ease for Guests With Breathtaking Beauty
I’m proud of how smoothly the wedding logistics were for our guests. Guests were encouraged to stay across the street from the venue, which made it easy for them to get to the ceremony or go home whenever they pleased. Guests were able to kick back and relax, knowing they could easily get home whenever they wanted. Another aspect I’m really proud of is the tablescapes. They were jaw-dropping. When I walked into the tent, I couldn’t speak because I was so blown away by how beautiful the reception tent looked.
Creating a Relaxing Experience at Their Taft Museum of Art Wedding with Thoughtful Planning and Guest Appreciation
Weddings have become so expensive to host and attend, and we wanted each and every person to know how special it was to us that they were showing their support for us. The logistics, being highly thought out–not just for the wedding party but for the guests, too–made the day so relaxing. Our planner helped nail all of these aspects down.
Making Every Guest Feel Special with Personal Handwritten Notes
We wrote a note to every single person that came to the wedding. The notes were highly personal and showed our appreciation to our guests for their relationship with us and for making it to our wedding. You don’t get to spend as much time with your guests as you want when you have a larger wedding, so we needed to have that personal moment with everyone through writing.
